National Twenty20: Karachi braced for more crash and bang

KARACHI:

National Stadium Karachi will see floodlit action once again when the Faysal Bank National Twenty20 Cup, featuring top national cricketers, comes into action from noon today.

A total of 14 teams, including the Afghan Cheetas, start their hunt for the trophy with the curators and organisers promising high-scoring action courtesy freshly laid pitches and lush outfield due to the recent rains.

Apart from the on-field show, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the Sindh government and the players will take part in fund-raising for the flood-affected people of Sindh.

The event, shifted from Lahore to Karachi due to the dengue outbreak in the Punjab capital, will now have ticketed entry with proceeds going towards the fundraising.

Rams eye another title

The Rawalpindi Rams, which won the Super Eight T20 Cup earlier this year, is vowing to give another title-winning performance.

“We are highly motivated,” Rawalpindi captain Sohail Tanveer told The Express Tribune. “We are looking for another title and all our players are confident. Our fans have a lot of expectations from us and we will give our best.”

The Pakistan all-rounder said his recent return to international cricket will also give his local side a benefit.

Sialkot bid to retain lost status

The Sialkot Stallions, led by Shoaib Malik, won the first three T20 titles and hold the record for consecutive wins in Twenty20 history, is focusing on returning to winning ways. “We are at full strength now,” said seasoned all-rounder Rana Navedul Hasan. “We played with depleted sides in the last few tournaments but now our main players have returned. I am very hopeful that we will regain the title.”

Afridi aims to spur hosts

Meanwhile, hosts Karachi have two teams in the event, Zebras and Dolphins.

The former will be lead by out-of-favour Danish Kaneria while Dolphins will be led by retired all-rounder Shahid Afridi.

“I am aiming to play a leading role for my team,” said Afridi.

“My focus now is on the tournament and hopefully we will do well.”

Meanwhile, Kaneria has stressed for the nation to take part in fund-raising activities besides enjoying the action.

“I request the fans to come in huge numbers and contribute whatever they can,” said the leg-spinner.

Security as per ICC standard

Keeping in mind the volatile security situation in the city, the organisers have arranged for high-level security as per the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) defined standards.

“The Sindh government will provide top-level security,” said PCB Director Education Wasim Bari, who is also a member of the organising committee.

‘Relief bike’ on a mission for flood victims

A bike carrying eight people will also be doing rounds during the tournament attempting to raise funds at various locations in the city.

“It’s a relief bike,” said Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister on Sports Haleem Adil Sheikh.

“Cricketers will visit different areas to create awareness and raise funds.”

Pakistan Courts want to block Facebook in Pakistan

facebook ban
LAHORE - The Lahore High Court Justice Sh Azmat Saeed on Monday ordered ministry of information and technology to block access to all websites in Pakistan especially American social networking website “Facebook”, spreading religious hatred on internet and to submit a compliance report by October 6. The judge, however, made it clear that no search engine including “Google” would be blocked.
The court issued this order while hearing a petition seeking a permanent ban on the access to American social networking website “Facebook” for hosting competition featuring blasphemous caricatures.
Muhammad & Ahmad, a public interest litigation firm, through chairman Muhammad Azhar Siddique advocate filed this petition and prayed for a permanent ban on access to Facebook for hosting a fresh blasphemous caricature drawing contest world over under a title "2nd Annual Draw Muhammad Day-May 20, 2011".
The petitioner pointed out that Islamic values are being derogated in the name of information that is hurting feeling of billions of Muslims.
He said despite order of the court, ministry of information technology did not block websites spreading religious hatred.
Petitioner requested that Facebook and all similar websites be permanently blocked or banned in Pakistan for airing, placing, visualizing obscene caricatures of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
The petition aims at stopping unholy drawing contest as well as blocking access to the facebook site in order to save feelings of millions of Muslims from being hurt by the objectionable caricatures which the masters minds of the "2nd Annual Draw Muhammad Day-May 20, 2011 are planning through the dirty contest.
He pleaded that due to holding of fresh competition, SHO Civil Lines Police Station be directed to register a criminal case under Section 295-C and other relevant provisions of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) against the perpetrators.
Petitioner has sought directions for the federal government to stop display of material with respect to blasphemy of any religion or Holy Prophet on Facebook and all other such websites in Pakistan.
He said the government be directed to establish a permanent authority, having legal status, who would monitor such objectionable activities across the world, so that blasphemy of Holy Prophet should be banned forever, including the holy personalities of all religions.

  • Army chief says US general knows names of countries in contact with Haqqanis
LAHORE/NEW YORK - Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani, after accusations of US Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen, termed these (accusations) as very unfortunate and not based on facts, a statement released by the Inter Services Public Relations said on Friday.
“This is especially disturbing in view of a rather constructive meeting with Admiral Mullen in Spain,” the ISPR quoted the army chief as saying. In an unprecedented public condemnation on Thursday, Admiral Mullen said that the “Inter-Services Intelligence agency was actively supporting a network linked to al Qaeda and blamed for an assault on the US Embassy in Kabul last week.”
On the specific question of contacts with Haqqanis, General Kayani said that Admiral Mullen knows well which countries were in contact with Haqqanis. “Singling out Pakistan is neither fair nor productive,” he said. He categorically denied accusations of proxy war and ISI support to Haqqanis.
Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar also dismissed Mullen’s remarks, saying they were unproven. "You cannot afford to alienate Pakistan," she said in comments broadcast on Friday from New York City, where she is attending a UN General Assembly meeting.
"Anything which is said about an ally, about a partner publicly to recriminate it, to humiliate it, is not acceptable. We have conveyed (to the US) that you will lose an ally,” she said.

Pakistan Fedral Minster Rehman Malik Warning to Google and YouTube

Popular internet search engine Google and websites like YouTube could be shut down in Pakistan if they did not cooperate with authorities investigating crimes and incidents of terrorism, Interior Minister Rehman Malik has warned.
Malik made the remarks at the headquarters of the Federal Investigation Agency here while interacting with reporters.
He urged the websites to extend help to authorities to exterminate terrorism from the country.
The government would be compelled to block certain websites including YouTube and search engine Google if they did not extend cooperation to authorities, Malik said.
The Taliban and other terrorist organisations were sharing intelligence through the internet and it is imperative to curb these activities, he said.
Malik did not give details of the crimes and incidents of terrorism that the websites could provide information about.
TV news channels also quoted Malik as saying that he had issued an order for a case to be registered against the administrator of Google Pakistan.
The minister has faced criticism and ridicule from civil society and rights groups for several of his recent comments.
Malik had recently claimed that jealous girlfriends and wives, and not political groups or criminals, were responsible for a majority of target killings in the southern port city of Karachi.

Tips for Your Sari to Look Brand New

Tips for Your Sari to Look Brand New

You and only you know just how gorgeous you are and how much pains you went through to select that beautiful designer sari and only you will truly understand how horrible it is to have a stain on that perfect sari.

So here are a few sari care tips to ensure that even your 7 year old sari looks brand new and there is absolutely no sign of stains.
Saris are available in a variety or prints, colors, work and just as many fabrics. Every fabric has to be tended to differently and taken care of in a different manner.

1. Cotton Saris:
Let's start with the basics. You will notice that whenever you purchase a cotton sari, it is stiff. That is because the sari has plenty of starch - something that is essential during the weaving or coloring procedure. It is quite simple to get the starch out. All you have to do is dip the sari in a bucket of warm salt water and let it soak for a while. Ensure that you soak saris individually since they may bleed in their first wash. Never wring a wet cotton sari. It loosens the fabric. Instead, gently squeeze out the excess water and hang it up to dry in direct sunlight.

 2. Chiffon and Georgette Saris:
Chiffon and Georgette are both flowing delicate materials that look awesome when adorned. It may be the unique delicateness that adds flavor to your look but it is exactly that feature of the fabrics that make it so tough to care for. It is relatively easier to wash them. They can be both hand washed - a preferable option if the sari is filled with work - or machine washed in the delicate mode. However, the real issue begins with the ironing and adorning. You have to be very careful while ironing these saris because a slight increase in heat will cause holes. Similarly, it is advisable not to use safety pins in these saris since they may tear.

Kim Kadarshian marvellous looks in dark blue dress

A while ago I posted an article on how Kim Kardashian found the secret to a slim body, and today we get the chance to see the newly improved, much skinnier Kim Kardashian in a very tight dress. Unfortunately none of this is true, Kim Kardashian secret slim formula didn’t worked for her, she’s not skinnier, she’s actually about to explode in the tightest dress she ever wore so far. Anyway, the good thing about Kim Kardashian wearing such a tight dress is that we can check out more of her bump.

Pamela Anderson

www.worldchannelss.blogspot.com
No one rocks a red bathing suit like Pamela Anderson. The former Playboy playmate is one of Hollywood enduring sex symbols. Pamela Denise Anderson was born July 1, 1967, in Ladysmith, British Columbia, Canada. Growing up, Pamela didn't really aspire to be famous. Once she graduated from high school, she moved to Vancouver to work as a fitness instructor. Fate intervened during the summer of 1989 when Pamela was spotted in the stands at a Canadian Football League game wearing a Laba t-shirt. On seeing the crowd reaction to the curvy beauty, the beer manufacturer offered her a modeling contract, which she accepted. In 1989, Pamela posed for                                                            the first of many cover of Playboy and was later voted Miss February                                                             for 1999

Hoping to boost her career, Pamela moved to Los Angeles and dyed her naturally brunette locks blond. Her big break came playing the ˜Tool Time Girl on the ABC sitcom Home Improvement, starring Tim Allen. Pamela stayed with the show for two years until she was offered a role on the swim wear drama Baywatch. Co-starring with David Hasselhoff, the blond bombshell won over viewers as lifeguard C.J. Parker and forever changed the way men saw a red one-piece. In 1995, Pamela Anderson married her first husband, Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee. The videotape of their honeymoon exploits was leaked onto the Internet. The couple sued the video a distributor, Internet Entertainment Group, and shared $1.5 million in profits. The tape became a runaway best-selling adult title, sparking the celebrity sex tape craze. (A previously recorded tape with Pamela and Poison frontman Bret Michaels surfaced in 1998.) Pamela and Tommy have two sons, Brandon Thomas Lee (born June 6,                                         (1996) and Dylan Jagger Lee (born December 29, 1997).

After filing for divorce and attempting reconciliation twice, the couple split for good in 1998, but have been seen looking semi-intimate ever since.
Pamela, hoping to find as much success on the big screen as she did on Baywatch, released her first feature film, the futuristic Barb Wire, in 1996. The flick was a critical and commercial flop. Her follow-up foray into television, the 1998 spy series V.I.P., was reviled by critics, but fans of the pneumatic actress kept the show on the air for four seasons. Proving she's not just another pretty face, Pamela showed off her literary side, authoring two novels, Star in 2004 and its sequel Star Struck the next year. Pamela Anderson returned to series television with the comedy Stacked, playing party girl-turned bookstore employee.

The show spent two seasons on FOX. The actress took another shot at love when she married rocker/rapper Kid Rock in the summer of 2006 on a yacht in St. Tropes. Their union was turbulent and brief. They split, citing irreconcilable differences, on November 27, 2006. Rumors circulated that Kid was upset about Pamela appearance in the film Borat:

Cultural Learning of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, where she was the object of Sacha Baron Cohen misguided affections.

Refusing to give up on love, Pamela gave marriage yet another try on October 6, 2007. On a break between her two nightly appearances as the lovely assistant to magician Hans Klok at Las Vegas Planet Hollywood Hotel & Casino, she married Paris Hilton ex-boyfriend (and sex tape partner) Rick Salomon. Sadly, on February 22, 2008, Pamela petitioned that the marriage be annulled, citing fraud. Pamela

recently teamed with Denise Richards for the poorly received comedy Blonde and Blonder and played super heroine Invisible Girl in 2008รข€™s Superhero Movie. Regardless of whether she posing for Playboy or running down a California state beach, Pamela Anderson remains one of American hottest blond bombshells.

Prevent Gray Hair?

Tip No.1 - Regain Youthful Strands
Light Mountain Natural Color The Gray! Hair Color & Conditioner,
Grey hair just feels (and reacts) differently; we know! Many women embrace their gray color, but have trouble with the texture the hair has developed. As we age, our hair loses its vitality, shine, manageability, and softness. Once those stubborn coarse grays show up, what to do? Try these tips to feel the youth!
Just for Men Shampoo-In Hair Color, Real Black 55, 1 application Case of 3
* Start with a shorter, textured cut. Shorter styles are so chic and contemporary.
* Use a softening or moisturizing shampoo and conditioner to soften strands, making them easier to bend and style. There are even in-salon treatments developed recently to tame loose-cannon textures of gray, making it easier to control and style. The results last about 4 weeks and feel like time has been reset.
* Ask your stylist for a color glaze either in clear to enhance shine
(shiny hair is perceived as healthy youthful hair), or with a slightly violet
to counteract any yellowing of grey hair.
